Job Description
Starting wage is $12.00/hour.
Full time, temporary to permanent position in Jackson.
 
ASSEMBLY:
  • Run appropriate job numbers according to the production schedule.
  • Change date stamp and complete a visual quality check of products at the beginning of the shift. 
  • Notifying material handler in a timely fashion, to make sure all stations are stocked.
  • Clear jam ups at stations and in feeder bowls.
  • Effectively apply basic troubleshooting techniques to keep machines operational. 
  • Use basic hand tools to complete authorized adjustments and minor repairs.
  • Responsible for contacting assembly technicians when problems occur that the operator cannot resolve. 
  • Assist assembly technician, as needed, during a changeover. 
  • Maintains and updates downtime efficiency log, daily production counts, lot control, and any other production paperwork. 
  • Assures that all components and assemblies in the assigned area are properly tagged. 
  • Keeps work area organized and clean. 
  • Reports count of and dispossess of all production scrap into the appropriate scrap bin at the end of each shift. 
  • Reports discrepancies to the supervisor. 
  • The employee understands that they are empowered to affect change in the company by making suggestions in writing or verbally to their supervisor (i.e., Bright Ideas, Safety Team, Departmental Meetings, and WERS).
  • Perform any tasks necessary to meet company goals and requirements. 
 
PRESS ROOM:
  • Follow set-up procedures for a particular job on a designated machine.
  • Qualify set-up, checking the welds and treads.
  • Run job per production standards, continually (every hour) inspecting parts for defects.
  • Notify Supervisor when a job is complete and change over to the next job. 
  • Report discrepancies to Supervisor.
  • Use of basic hand tools.
  • Use of gages to check the size of a part or to find defects.
  • Clean up floor area, leaving in good condition for the next shift. 
  • According to parts cleaning procedure, vapor clean parts, and rustproof if required.
  • Tumble parts per tumbling procedure.
  • Stock secondary operations with parts.
  • Stock studs for secondary operations.

  • Perform any tasks necessary to meet company goals and requirements. 
 
SECONDARY:
  • Operate OBI presses, welders, tappers, and other secondary machinery as directed by the supervisor. 
  • Follow job instructions, as listed in secondary department job files. 
  • Follow inspection instructions as listed in secondary department job files.
  • Fill out production slips and white time tickets daily.
  • Show accountability and concern for the quality of parts produced. 
  • Understand and follow all routing and tagging systems as instructed.
  • Perform all housekeeping tasks necessary to keep the work area free from debris and safety hazards.

SHIPPING:
  • Visually inspect products for defects, setting aside defective items in the appropriate reject box for rework or scrap. 
  • Keeps records of items packed on sort analysis sheet and initials the routing tag for 100% sort.
  • Packs items in designated cartons per customer order.
  • Reports discrepancies to Supervisor.
  • May be required to do rework on a finished product.
  • Make small boxes.
  • Use of gauges to check the size of a part or to find defects.
  • Clean up packing line and floor area.

  • Perform any tasks necessary to meet company goals and requirements. 
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Manual dexterity required.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds of weight.
  • Ability to keep up with a moderate speed conveyor line. 
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Follow plant safety rules and guidelines.
  • Required training in QMS-EMS.
  • Must become proficient with the operation of the equipment assigned.
