Job Description
  I.        POSITION SUMMARY:
 
Provides supervision and oversight for recruitment, orientation, training, assessment, and direct services of children and families for the Adoption program. 
 
II.         DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. *Supervises adoption staff.
  2. *Reviews and approves all adoption reports.
  3. *Recruits adoptive/foster care families for children served by the agency’s child welfare program.
  4. *Matches available children with recruited adoptive families.
  5. *Facilitates and provide adoption and parental-related trainings and education.
  6. *Prepares families to adopt special needs children.
  7. *Provides placement and post-placement supervision of adopted children.
  8. *Provides comprehensive Adoptive Family Assessments for potential adoptive families.
  9. *Responsible for working as a member of the agency management team to make recommendations for program improvement and quality assurance.
  10. *Responsible for following and interpreting State of Michigan rules for foster families and PA ll6.
  11. *Responsible for mandated reporting under State of Michigan Child Protection Act.
  12. *Maintains thorough documentation for case record and completes all DHHS and FSCA required documentation and reports in a timely manner.
  13. Develops outreach services to adoptive and prospective adoptive families and the community.
  14. *Maintains court responsibility for cases as assigned and participates in court hearings as requested.
  15. Participates in regular supervision and attends staff meetings as requested.
  16. Explains and/or presents the agency’s programs, goals and philosophies in the community as requested.
  17. Assists with program evaluation and/or research as requested.
  18. *Attends training required by FSCA/DHHS and utilizes additional opportunities for professional development (i.e., in-service training, conferences, etc.).
  19. *Fulfills the requirements of all agency systems for statistical recordkeeping, reporting, program evaluation, quality assurance, internal control and attendance monitoring as appropriate to the position.
  20. Provides other direct or administrative services consistent with agency procedures as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or agency Director.
  21. All other duties as assigned
  22. QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a Social Work or Psychology, or a human service related degree and 3 years of experience as a social service worker in a Child Welfare  agency, or
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human service field, plus 4 years of experience as a social service worker, 3 years of which shall have been in an agency.
  • Experience or aptitude in supervision and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and relationships essential to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage tasks relevant to the position.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Cultural sensitivity, knowledge of family dynamics and child development.
