SUMMARY:Economic Luncheon - How will you vote on Proposal A this May?
DESCRIPTION:Join the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Economic Event Committee on May 4\, 2015 from 11:30 1:00 pm at Spring Arbor University's Ralph Carey Forum Room in the Student Life Center for an educational program on Proposal 15-1 the Sales Tax Initiative. \n\n \n\nBe an informed voter!\n\n \n\nLearn the details behind the May 5 statewide ballot proposal dealing with sales tax and motor fuel tax increases at the May 4th Economic Lunch. Presenter Craig Thiel is the Senior Research Associate at Citizens Research Council (CRC http://crcmich.org/ )\, Michigan's oldest public policy research organization. Craig will provide factual\, unbiased independent information on the ballot initiative\, helping voters make an informed decision.\n\n \n\nOn May 5\, Michigan voters will be asked to vote on a single statewide ballot measure to amend the state Constitution: Proposal 15-1. Approval of Proposal 15-1 will result in increases in various state taxes\, expansion of state tax credits\, additional state funds for road repair and maintenance\, and additional state funds for public schools and local governments. Of some confusion\, perhaps\, is that voters are only being asked to directly approve some of these changes\; those amending the Constitution. The bulk of the other state tax changes are contained in laws passed last legislative session that would only take effect if Proposal 15-1 is approved.\n\n \n\nSee the white page on this ballot: http://www.crcmich.org/PUBLICAT/2010s/2015/transportation_funding_proposal.html\n\n \n\nThank You To Our Supporters:\n\nCP Federal Credit Union\; Experience Jackson\; Fifth Third Bank\; Michigan Community Credit Union\; Northwest Community Schools\; OSB Community Bank\; Rehmann\; Spring Arbor University\n\n \n\nBaker College\; Comerica Bank\; Commonwealth Associates\, Inc.\; Jackson College\; Jackson Speedway\; JTV\; Manpower\; Michigan International Speedway\; Printer Source Plus\; RjM\; South Central Michigan Works!\; Tom Schindler\, Realtor\; WKHM-AM/K-105.3/WIBM-AM.
