He began his career with the Jackson Police Department in 1991 and served in multiple leadership roles before becoming Chief of Police in 2025. A U.S. Army veteran\, he served 30 years\, including a deployment to Iraq\, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major (E-9).\n\nChief Simpson holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Business from Spring Arbor University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
