Economic Luncheon - 2015 ATHENA Recipient and Jackson BPW Nike Award SOLD OUT
Join the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce Economic Event Committee and the Jackson Business and Professional Women on February 23, 2015 from 11:30 ? 1:00 pm at Bella Notte as we honor Donna Lake, 2015 ATHENA Recipient and present the annual Jackson BPW Nike Award. Jackson BPW is a local organization in one of the largest working women's organizations. BPW is firmly committed to raising public awareness of health and family concerns and legislative issues for women. Jackson BPW meets the second and fourth Tuesday from noon to 1:15 PM at Cascades Manor House. A business meeting on the second Tuesday provides an overview of the workings of our organization. Program meetings on the fourth Tuesday feature various speakers on topics of interest to our members. Jackson Business and Professional Women presents the Nike Award to a woman who exemplifies the qualities the Nike Award represents: progress, strength, freedom and triumphs while facing adversity. www.JacksonBPW.org. Mrs. Lake is a retired Jackson Public Schools elementary teacher. She received her Bachelor of Science from Eastern Michigan University, and a master?s degree in the art of teaching from Marygrove College in Detroit. She taught hearing impaired children for 12 years, grades K-6, then finished her career by teaching fourth-grade students for 20 years.
Mrs. Lake has been a member of the Jackson County Medical Society Alliance for 14 years, recently serving as president. She has also been on the Michigan State Medical Society Alliance (MSMSA) board since 2010, serving as MSMSA recording secretary for 2012-?14. She has been on the Jackson Symphony Guild board since 2009 and held the office of Guild President from 2011-?13. She has also mentored Sharp Park Academy students, and is an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and is an active volunteer at The Dahlem Center and with the Jackson County Master Gardening Association. Donna also serves on the Jackson College Board of Directors. She loves golfing, walking and spending time with her family and friends.
