Position Summary
The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial, accounting, and administrative operations of the company. This role manages day-to-day financial functions while serving as a strategic partner to executive leadership on growth, pricing, cost management, and profitability.
This position requires a hands-on leader with strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to operate across accounting, payroll, benefits, purchasing, inventory, and compliance. The Director of Finance plays a key role in maintaining financial health, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Strategy
- Serve as controller of all company finances, including cash flow management and line of credit oversight
- Partner closely with the President/VP on growth initiatives, pricing strategy, cost control, and profitability analysis
- Track, analyze, and report job profitability and margin performance
- Lead quarterly pricing reviews with customers and suppliers
- Develop and manage cost savings initiatives across the organization
Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and process monthly financial statements and management reports
- Manage all financial audits and act as primary liaison with the external accounting firm
- Conduct quarterly internal process audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Maintain asset management records and depreciation schedules
Payroll, Benefits & HR Administration
- Accurately and timely oversea payroll processing
- Prepare and submit all payroll liability reports and payments
- Oversea employee benefit programs including 401(k), profit sharing, pension plans, and health insurance
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll and labor regulations
Accounts, Purchasing & Inventory
- Review supplier invoices and lead supplier negotiations
- Process customer invoices and oversee billing accuracy
- Track inventory and support purchasing activities
- Process estimates and purchase orders in coordination with operations and sales
Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and process property, state, and federal tax filings
- Ensure ongoing compliance with financial, tax, and regulatory requirements
Administration & Leadership
- Oversea Office Manager/Admin
- Oversee finance-related customer and vendor communications
- Maintain organized financial systems, documentation, and internal controls
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (required)
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or financial management
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll, benefits administration, and tax compliance
- Experience with job costing, inventory tracking, and manufacturing or operational environments preferred
- Proven ability to manage audits and work with external accounting firms
- Proficient with Quickbooks accounting and payroll software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
