Schlenker's Sandwich Shop
- Restaurants, Food & Beverages
Freshly ground and cooked to order, the burgers at Schlenker's Sandwich Shop have been satisfying locals since 1927. Fries, onion rings and breaded and fried mushrooms and cauliflower are favored sides. Leave room for a slice of pie for dessert.
Schlenker's gets new owners, switches back to original beef burgers.
Born and raised in Jackson, Nick Fuller has been a Schlenker's Sandwich Shop customer since he was a kid. He remembers coming with his dad as a 7 or 8 year old and sitting on one of the 16 stools circling the horseshoe-shaped counter.
The secret seasoning and special ''everything sauce'' won't change. But starting Wednesday, Sept. 19, the Fullers plan to switch back to the original sirloin beef provider, A&A Market.
''I want it to be like what it was and what everybody knows it for,'' Nick Fuller said. ''You want it to be what it was when you were a kid. I guess you want that warm, fuzzy feeling when you eat that same burger.''
